One Room Challenge Fall 2022: Halfway Update!

Well, we’re already passed the halfway point for the One Room Challenge for Fall 2022, and the gym looks. . . . mostly the same. Thanks to 2 babies who picked up every bug that’s been going around the last 6 weeks and a 10 day trip home to DC, there hasn’t been a ton of progress.

But, let me show what’s gotten accomplished and what’s planned for the next few weeks!

A Fresh Coat of Paint

The biggest transformation for the space is the new paint color.

Here’s a before look at the space and the walls

I was really hoping to choose a color that feels coastal, to embrace our island home, while also feeling calming for the many yoga sessions I hope to have. And, it needed to be a COLOR. No neutrals. My whole house is neutrals right now (besides E’s purple room and the teal beadboard in the girl’s bathroom), and I needed some color on the walls ASAP.

So, on a whim–no samples, no looking at it at home–I chose Quietude from Sherwin Williams.

And, I’m obsessed. It’s the most perfect, muted teal. It’s perfect for the feel I was hoping for in the space.

And, if I didn’t have a million other ideas running through my head, I’d be painting our bedroom this color as well. This color with some white bed linens–gorgeous.

Ok, enough about the paint. Let’s look at the other things that have gotten accomplished.

Mounting Barre, Mirror, & TV

The other “big” updates are that I’ve finally gotten the barre, mirror, and tv mounted on the walls!

These were super simple projects–just need a drill, driver, and a stud finder–but, it took me almost 6 weeks to find the time to do this. Sick kids are the worst.

BUT. Getting these things on the wall makes me feel like we have a real home gym again.

It’s been almost a year since my barre and mirror were up on the wall, and the tv’s been off the floor. So, I can finally do real barre workouts again.

And, design wise, getting those items into place, really helps me visualize the space and the last few projects I’m planning on tackling.

What’s Up Next?

So, now that we’re back on track with One Room Challenge Fall 20222, what’s next?

Y’all know I like my hand-drawn plans and lists.

Here’s the remaining projects:

  • Vertical storage for workout equipment
  • Accent wall behind Peloton or TV–still undecided there so I may save it for last
  • Weight storage and dvd player space for under the tv

That’s it! But, the vertical storage and building the weight storage are definitely the parts of the project I’m most excited for!

I’ll update y’all as I make progress–hopefully next week!–but feel free to follow me on social media to get real time updates of all my projects!
