Guest Room Refresh Reveal

Hi friends! Today I’m excited to share with you my guest room reveal I’ve been working on this month!

I’ve been working on a few projects this October (as well as managing alllllllll the sick kids–has anyone else had a rough month with all the germs? We seem to have gotten every one). One is the home gym as part of One Room Challenge. And the other is a quick guest room refresh.

Besides adding some gifted end tables and a loveseat from our playroom, the guest room really hasn’t been touched since we moved into our new home last Spring.

And, since we have a lot of guests every year, and almost all of them travel from hours and hours away, I decided it was time to make it a little more comfortable for our guests.

But, with chasing two toddlers and tackling the home gym at the same time, I didn’t have the time (or the money) to complete a full remodel of the space. So, here’s I tackled a few quick projects that made a HUGE difference in the space.

Ready to see the reveal?! Ok! But before pics first.

Here’s the Before

Here’s the guest room before. Totally functional with a bed and seating and blankets and a tv. But, literally zero style and personality.

I wanted our guest room to read warm and relaxing and welcoming for our guests. I wanted it to be somewhere that our guests wanted to spend time in. And most importantly, I wanted them to have a bed that was uber comfortable.

So, I decided to tackle 2 quick projects to bring more of that welcoming feeling to the space, while also making the bed a mini oasis.

Ready to see the after? Let’s take a look!

Hello, Guest Room Reveal

What do you think??

Fresh Paint

The first project I tackled was a fresh coat of paint for the space. Out when the cool drywall gray, and I painted the space a warmer neutral: Natural Linen by Sherwin Williams. I also made sure to use their high quality, scrubbable Emerald line because I know there’s going to be nicks and scuffs from suitcases.

I think the color choice was perfect to warm up the space a bit. It still keeps the neutral, coastal feel but this definitely makes the guest room now feel more relaxing and welcoming.

New Bed Linens

After getting the new paint completed, my main focus was updating the bed linens. I wanted this to be the most comfortable bed in the house.

And, a big part of that was updating our basic discount sheets to these amazing Belgian Flax Linen sheets from BeFlax Linen. I was gifted a Linen Bed Set in Cream for the guest room, and I’m already planning on grabbing a set for our own room.

These 100% European flax linen sheets effortlessly create an atmosphere of relaxation and coziness for any bed. And, I love how they keep you warm, while still staying breathable so you don’t get too hot while you sleep.

I chose the Cream color, which is a beautiful, buttery yellow. It definitely brightens up the space and really complements the new teal quilts well.

Now, the bed has gone from ehhh to ahhhhh-mazing 🙂 I may have snuck up here a night or two to try it out for myself, and the comfort of this guest bed now has me moving our primary suite refresh to the top of the list for our next project!

What’s Next for the Guest Room?

I know I’m calling this the guest room reveal, but I still have a few projects left until it’s actually complete. I want to add a headboard to the bed, update the lighting, update the seating, mount the tv, and maybe build a bench for the end of the bed.

But for now, this guest room is soooooo much more inviting and relaxing than where we started, so I couldn’t be happier with how this refresh came together.
